A whole-school assembly was held on the 21st of October 2022 to formally invest the eleven College Prefects for 2023. Since the current Year 12 students have officially graduated and are presently finishing their Higher School Certificate (HSC) examinations, it was the appropriate time to transfer student leadership of the College to our Year 11 students. Father Salas joined us to lead a Liturgy of the Word and he reflected in his homily on the importance of service and the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Christopher Tran, our new College Captain, spoke to his peers in a very authentic and humble manner, and encouraged stronger involvement in College life from all students. In my address, I reflected on three simple things that make a good leader, i.e. example, presence and service. The most special part of the ceremony, however, was when the incoming prefects were badged by their parents; there was a very tangible sense of pride from everyone in the community at that moment.
