When students join the College, they are placed into one of five houses. Siblings are kept together in the same house, so younger brothers will follow in the footsteps of their older brother/s. Each house is named after a Catholic saint and links to an important value which students are encouraged to live out.

The College’s house system operates across all aspects of school life in a competition called the ‘Shield of Spirit’. Students can earn points for their academic and co-curricular endeavours, competing in carnivals and other competitions, having strong attendance, as well as volunteering and being of service to others. Our House Coordinator provides regular updates to the school community and an electronic scoreboard charts the progress of each house. The 2024 Shield of Spirit winners were the boys from Patrick House! Who will it be in 2025?

FRANICS HOUSE
Patron: St. Francis Xavier
Motto: “In you O Lord have I put my hope.”
Value: Trust in God

Colour: Yellow

The Francis House Crest portrays a path leading to the radiant sun, symbolising Jesus as our source of hope and guidance towards our heavenly home in God. John’s Gospel emphasises Jesus as the way to the Father, inspiring us to follow Him as our role model. In times of difficulty and uncertainty, we can trust in God to light our path. Francis House students rely on their trust in God as their greatest strength, demonstrated by their virtuous character.

JOSEPH HOUSE
Patron: St. Joseph
Motto: “Prepare a path for God that He can enter your heart.”

Value: Generosity
Colour: Purple

The Joseph House crest pays homage to St. Joseph, the earthly father of Jesus, and includes the Star of Bethlehem which symbolises the birth of Christ and guides the college through prayer. The Joseph Cross, made up of four set squares, represents Joseph’s work as a carpenter, and the colour purple recognises his royal lineage from King David. Joseph House students are encouraged to follow his example and make a place for God in their hearts to care for those around them.

MACKILLOP HOUSE
Patron: St. Mary MacKillop
Motto: “Never see a need without doing something about it.”
Value: Mercy

Colour: Red

The MacKillop crest is a powerful symbol of the virtues of loving mercy and compassion. The cross, adorned with the Sacred Heart and the crown of thorns, is emblematic of the Sisters of St Joseph of the Sacred Heart, founded by Mary MacKillop. MacKillop House students are encouraged to seek God’s love and reflect it through acts of kindness, demonstrating Christ’s love by responding to the needs they encounter with merciful hearts.

PATRICK HOUSE
Patron: St. Patrick
Motto: “Christ be with me, Christ within me, Christ behind me, Christ before me, Christ beside me.”
Value: Peace

Colour: Green

The Patrick crest features two symbols, the dove representing the Holy Spirit and peace, and the palm of victory symbolising Christ’s triumph over sin and death. St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, used the three-leaf clover to explain the Trinity and is associated with the colour green. Patrick House students are thus charged with revealing to the world, the peaceful nature of God. The divine character is at the heart of the way we are called to be the peaceful face of God in the world.

VINCENT HOUSE
Patron: St. Vincent De Paul
Motto: “We must love our neighbour as being made in the image of God.”
Value: Compassion
Colour: Blue

The Vincent House crest features hands holding a heart in a gesture of compassion, symbolising the love that Vincentians show others, which stems from the heart of Christ. As Lasallians, students are called to “touch hearts” and to fulfil the challenge of generously giving to the less fortunate. Vincent House students can transform the world and honour the dignity of every person, recognising the face of God in all.
