RUOK Day is our national day of action dedicated to reminding everyone that any day is the day to ask, “Are you ok?” and support those struggling with life . Taking part can be as simple as learning R U OK?’s four steps so you can have a conversation that could change a life. The day is about inspiring people to start these conversations every day of the year. It is about demonstrating care for others who may be experiencing mental health difficulties and taking the time to ask someone in a meaningful way R U OK?

Last week at the college we held our annual Wellbeing Week which also celebrated R U Ok Day on Thursday, 8 September. For wellbeing week we used the 5 ways to Wellbeing as our focus – Connect – Be Active – Give – Take Notice – Keep Learning. All of the activities last week involved the 5 ways to wellbeing. Students engaged in Homeroom activities in the morning that focussed on mental health while at recess students participated in soccer, pass the ball and basketball shootout competitions. At lunch each day the SRC and Prefects ran an R U Ok station where students pledged their support for another person on paper hand cut-outs and placed them on a support wall. Over 200 pledges were signed and a strong sign that De La Salle students are committed to supporting others in our community. The week concluded with a College assembly that centered on the four steps to asking R U Ok and a Staff Vs Student basketball match, which the students won. This was a great week devoted to wellbeing and raising awareness of mental health.
